You also need to submit a deregistration application along with an affidavit confirming there are no outstanding loans, insurance claims, legal disputes, or involvement in any criminal activity. The RTO will verify your documents and cross-check records with their database. Once diligence reports from the traffic police and National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) are cleared, the vehicle will be officially deregistered. After deregistration, the registration number becomes available for reassignment, so it’s essential to inform your insurance provider and cancel the vehicle’s insurance policy.
